Wonderful woman, excellent photographer and beautiful model. All these roles are personified in one woman - legendary Lillian Bassman.

Education: Textile Highschool, Manhatten, NYC
1. Lillian Bassman used to work as a model for a long time. She showed her interest in photography when she was 29.
2. Lillian was one of the first fashion-photographers who "undressed" models in front of the camera.
3. Bassman used special print technic: she painted with a brush soaked in the developer, so that photographs looked like paintings.
4. Lillian Bassman not only worked with such photographers as Richard Avedon, Robert Frank, Louis Faurer and Arnold Newman, but also hepled them make successful career in photography.
5. Lillian married Photographer Paul Himmel. They first met when she was 6 and he was 9.
6. By 1970 Bassman gave up her career as a Photographer. In 1992, after her Photography exhibition which was a great success, Lillian Bassman returned to Photography.
